Polypeptides, due to their
biocompatibility and biodegradability, are ideally suited for
in vivo biomedical applications. Another advantage of
polypeptides over synthetic polymers is their excellent belnd of
chemical diversity and engineering programmability. Once
designed, polypeptides can be mass-produced via biosynthesis at low
cost and reduced level of pollution. Potential application of
polypeptides in medicine and pharmacy include targeted drug
delivery, tissue repair, controlled chemical release, biosensing,
etc.
Dr. Yu has
extensive experience in the design, synthesis and characterization
of artificial proteins for medical and pharmaceutical applications.
Dr. Yu has
a broad educational
background with a BS (Biochemistry) from
Peking
University and
a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his consulting
practice, Dr. Yu holds an assistant professorship in the Department
of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University
of Utah. He has
published
extensively in several areas.
Dr. Yu's background is particularly useful
to clients
with investigational studies where expertise in drug delivery
systems is required.
